Dr. Barnes and the work she does has been closely chronicled by the media. She has been invited to appear on many news shows to discuss the community engagement and public programs she leads. Most recently she appeared on the the PBS affiliate, Maryland Public Television (MPT) to discuss the importance and impact of the Maryland Lynching Truth and Reconciliation Commission, the first such legislation in the nation. She was also appointed by Maryland Governor Hogan to serve on the Maryland Commission for African American History and Culture, which was covered by several news outlets.
